Amazon has announced that will launch its Fire tablet across China as it attempts to compete against the big tablet makers in that region.

The inexpensive tablet will be preloaded with apps from Baidu, including its video player, search engine and other apps for mobile devices. In return, it is likely that Baidu will promote the tablet in China although that has not been confirmed in the most release press release by the two parties.

Amazon will be promoting learning English and its large Kindle library as the biggest two features on its Fire tablet.

That could be a very tough sell in China since mobile owners in the country tend to enjoy gaming, shopping and video more than they do reading.

Amazon might be targeting students as well and schools with its Fire Tablets.

Both Amazon and Baidu both are to gain from the launch if it is successful. In the case of Baidu, it might gain market share in mobile devices for its all important search engine, which has lost ground to Shenna and Qihoo 360.

The video service for Baidu could also have an increase in its popularity as it battles with Sohu and Youku Tudou for share of that market.

In the case of Amazon, its Fire tablet could draw additional customers to its e-commerce business. Currently Amazon sells 1.5% of its entire products online in China, while its biggest rival Alibaba sells an overwhelming about of products through its Taobao and Tmall services.

If Amazon were to pre-install Twitch TV on this tablet, it may also see an increase in viewership in its streaming service.

The tablet will cost $77 in China, which is a little more expensive than priced in the U.S. or Europe.

That sounds on the surface like a great price, but in China there are a number of tablets that are less expensive that run on Android and perform similarly to the Fire.
